Avast for me although I have run AVG.
I have even run Norton when I was a mere pup and didn't know any better.

use avg here, it's free and does the job reasonably well. I also like their malware app, so I figured may as well keep the two together.

And like wolfey and bm, started with norton until it let 106k trojans into my system in about 20 seconds. After I got that mess cleaned up, decided to do 2 things:

learn more about malware, and dump norton. :)

Post fav antivirus

My favorite antivirus software is Panda Internet Security 2007.

I have used Norton an Mcafee and I didn't like them.

Then I bought Panda a few years ago and I first tried out Panda Antivirus Titanium and newer versions.

But then more virusses came on the web and I decided to try out Panda Platinum Internet Security ( now called Panda Internet Security 2007 ) and I have sticked with this one, because I think it's the best around.

It has TruPrevent Technologies aboard and that proactive shield protects you against new virusses and other malware.

I have seen TruPrevent Technologies into action once and it really works well.

I recommend Panda to everyone.

I even recommended Panda to my girlfriend, who was also using Norton on her laptop a few years ago.

Norton is mostly pre-installed on many computers nowadays.
It's called "bloatware", I recently saw on another website.
I hate Norton or Mcafee nowadays.

I don't recommend any freeware antivirus. That's just my opinion.

These are the results from a Trojan Simulator ran on multiple AV clients. As you can see TruPrevent Technologies may not be all they are cracked up to be. I am not saying Panda is bad. I am saying that Avast is on top of their game and I have the results to prove so.

AntiVir Found SPR/TrojanSimulat.2
ArcaVir Found nothing
Avast Found Win32:TrojanSim
AVG Antivirus Found nothing
BitDefender Found Application.TrojanSimulator

Norman Virus Control Found W32/TrojanSim.A
Panda Antivirus Found nothing

How many of those are false positives though

Bitdefender and panda and SAS found no trace
